Natural gas for El Salvador

Cutuco Energy Central America last week issued a request for bids, in relation to a proposed $800 million integrated natural gas project in El Salvador. The plan calls for the construction and operation of a natural gas terminal in the port of La Union, a regasification Plant, a 525MW power plant, a desalinization system, a gas pipeline system and two transmission lines.

One of the power lines would connects to the national transmission grid and the other to the Central American Electric Interconnection System.
Cutuco plans to supply excess gas to regional markets, including Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua from its terminal.
The project represents the largest energy investment to date in El Salvador.

Cutuco has offices in San Salvador, with headquarters in Houston, Texas.
