Top-quality Nicaraguan coffee sold for $3,105 per quintal in Internet auction

Nicaragua sold top-quality coffee at prices that reached as high as $3,105 a quintal (45.45 kilos) in its Taza de la Excelencia Internet auction.

The top price was paid for 36 quintals from the La Esperanza estate in Dipilto, northern Nicaragua. the bidder was Hiro Coffee of Japan.

The prices obtained by Nicaragua’s producers were higher than those achieved by those of El Salvador, Colombia, Costa Rica and Honduras where Internet auctions were held earlier.
