Venezuela suspended oil shipments to Honduras under the Petrocaribe accord in protest at the overthrow of President Manuel Zelaya.

Chávez said a shipment to Honduras had been programmed for next week but it will no longer go ahead.

The Venezuelan leader rejected claims that the special terms of the Petrocaribe accord amounted to financial support of Zelaya’s government. Petrocaribe, he said was simply “cooperation with countries that have been exploited.”
