Remittances by Guatemala’'s emigrants were down 15 percent in January

Remittances from Guatemalan emigrants in the United States dropped 15 per cent in January, compared to the same month in 2009.

This January, the amount of money received in remittances was $246 million.

Last year as a whole, Guatemalan emigrants sent home $3.9 billion, around 9.3 per cent less than in 2008.
