Business tourism is growing fast in San José, the Costa Rican capital. Growth has been 20 percent over the last year.

Chaines such as Aloft and Holiday Inn are among the latest to develop the niche. Business tourists spend some $200 a day on their visits, lasting for three nights.

The growth in business travel is being spurred by the arrival of companies such as HP, Procter & Gamble and Intel.
