Panama starts building region's largest wind farm

The President of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, inaugurated the construction of the country's first wind farm, Parque Eólico Penonomé.
The investment for the project, which is expected to start operating in 2014, was for $440 million, and will be under the management of Unión Eólica Panameña, a joint Panamanian-Spanish firm.
The wind farm will be the largest of its type in Central America, and is expected to cover up to 7 percent of Panama's domestic energy demand.
