Region revs up for more automobile imports

Car imports are growing fast in Central American, even in the poorest countries, but led by Panama and Costa Rica.

Most of the imports these days are modestly priced small commercial vehicles and sub-compacts made by Korean and Japanese companies. But there is an important luxury segment featuring high-class European cars.
