Taiwan praises trade accord with Nicaragua
Wednesday, July 3, 2013
Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou on Tuesday praised a free trade agreement signed by Taiwan and Nicaragua in 2006 for fueling rapid growth in bilateral trade and benefitting both economies.
At a meeting with Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez, Ma said bilateral trade has risen sharply since the pact took effect in 2007 to nearly $100 million in 2012.
The growth in trade has established Taiwan as Nicaragua's largest export market in Asia and its tenth biggest export market in the world.
