'Catín' named as administrator of Panama Canal

Ricaurte Vásquez, better known as Catín has been named as successor of Jorge Luis Quijano as administrator of the Panama Canal. Canal administrators serve seven-year terms.

in a 30-year career, Vasquez has been minister of Economy and a deputy administers of the Canal. he has also been an executive in the private sector, notably with General Electric.

Vásquez said that he aims to make sure that the Canal remains competitive in a primly changing commercial world.
