$1.4 billion in hydroelectric projects paralyzed in Guatemala

At least 14 hydroelectric projects in Guatemala have been paralyzed by opposition from local communities. In total, they represent an investment of some $1.4 billion.

After years of foot-dragging over the resolution of conflicts with indigenous communities, the government says it aims to take action. But the private sector is impatient.
