Tuesday, November 15, 2011

AES El Salvador opened Central America’s first plant in Central America to produce electricity on the basis of methane gas produced from solid waste. The waste comes from the municipal dump in the municipality of Nejapa.

The $58 million plant contains six motors that together generate six megawatts of power, sufficient to supply 18,000 homes.
