Agro-industry and mining will boost development of Honduras, say business leaders
Tuesday, January 3, 2012
Agro-industry, including food-processing, and mining will be the main driving forces of the Honduran economy this year, said Alejandro Álvarez, the vice-president of the business confederation.
Álvarez said that the development of farming will promote the poultry industry by increased exports.
On mining, he said that Honduras could "easily" expect $10 billion of investment over the next 15 years. But he added: "That will have to wait until the new mining law is passed. It's been hanging about now for several months in the Congress."
