Aid begins to flow in ... but rain refuses to stop

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Heavy rains that are continuing to drench Central America have swollen rivers, flooded towns and farmland and killed nearly 100 people.

El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua have declared national disasters, and an estimated $2 million in Salvadoran coffee crops and production were lost.

International aid from the United States, Mexico, Europe and elsewhere has already been pledged.
