Air connectivity challenges regional tourism

High air fares are keeping Central America from becoming a unified tourism destination.

Some round trips among the countries can cost between $500 and $700 for trips of only 30 or 40 minutes.

"Air connectivity is one of the challenges that limits the development of inter-regional tourism," said Anasha Campbell, director of the Central American Tourism Integration Secretariat, SITCA.
