América Móvil buys out Digicel in El Salvador

El Salvador authorized the purchase of Irish-owned cellphone operator Digicel by Claro, the unit of Mexico's América Móvil.

Agreement was reached on the purchase more than a year ago. Claro executives say they will have 40 percent of the market in El Salvador.
El Salvador has 6.1 million inhabitants and more than 7.4 million cellphones.
