B2Gold sticks to guidance on production despite two-month mine shutdown. Limón to the rescue by exceeding target

Friday, November 11, 2011

It could have been worse. Despite a tragic flood that killed a mine worker and extensive downtime at a Nicaraguan mine, Canada’s B2Gold eked out solid production and earnings.

Although it was hit with a force majeure in the third quarter, B2Gold maintained production guidance for 2011.

After parts of its Limón mine in Nicaragua flooded following heavy rains in mid-June B2Gold might have had to scale back this year's gold production forecast. But owing in part to increased production from its La Libertad mine, also in Nicaragua, the company held production in line with expectations.
