Bad weather in Central America hits fourth-quarter sales of Fresh Del Monte

Despite a reported decrease in sales for the fourth quarter, Fresh Del Monte Produce remains optimistic for the year ahead. Fresh Del Monte Produce reported net sales for the fourth quarter of $816.7 million, down from the year-earlier figure of US$872.1 million.

The company attributed the decrease to the rationalisation of its melon programme, lower volumes of pineapples due to inclement weather conditions in Central America, and lower sales in the company's other product and services business.
