Banks in Costa Rica will close the year with a slight increase in profits

Monday, December 27, 2010

The majority of state and private-sector banks in Costa Rica will close 2010 with a slight increase in profits, and some will close in the red.

In November the state-sector banks saw only a 3.3 percent increase in profits over the same period last year.

The state-owned banks include the Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, Banco de Costa Rica, the Crédito Agrícola de Cartago and the Banco Popular. For their part, private banks didn't fare so well either.
