Banks send a lifeline to Line 2 of Panama City’s Metro system

After months of waiting, the consortium in charge of the $2 billion construction of the second line of Panama’s Metro system has been provided financing by international banks, reported to be Switzerland’s UBS and Inbursa of Mexico.

Originally financing was to have been provided by Citibank, but the arrangement was cancelled in the wake of the Odebrecht scandal. Brazil’s Odebrecht and Spain’s FCC are the contractors for the construction.
