Battle for market in Central American tourists hits landfall

Competition to win over Central American tourists is not longer being waged in the skies. Regional bus lines are giving the arilines a run for their money.

Return air fares to Guatemala and Panama are running at about $120 return with companies such as Wingo and Volaris. Both airlines were launched December 1, but they now face competition from Tica Bus, Nica Bus and Espreso Panamá. The bus companies cover the same routes.
