Boost in bank lending fuels Panama building boom

Panama's construction industry has risen sharply over the last three years, the nation's banking regulator said.

Loans for construction have increased more than four-fold during the period.

Last year, credits were granted for more than $3 billion, up by almost $600 million from 2011.
