Monday, August 30, 2010

Tovar Schmidt, president of the Brazilian shoe company Schmidt Irmaos Calzado says his company has already hired 700 workers in two months since it opened a factory in Nicaragua.

By the end of the year, we hope to have 1,800 workers to match an increase in shoe production. Within two or three months, the raw materials will also be acquired in Nicaragua, Schmidt said.

Currently the factory produces some 3,000 to 4,000 pairs of luxury shoes for sale in the United States and Europe.
