Calvo and Sardimar prepare for a tuna war

Competition between Sardimar and Calvo is heating up because of plans to expand their markets and introduce new products.

Canned tuna sales in Central America and the Caribbean are valued at more than $134 million a year.

Costa Rica-based Sardimar is looking to move into markets in the United States and Europe. Meanwhile, Spain’s Calvo stepped up its presence in the region as well as making a move into Colombia.
