Calvo obliged to negotiate with other firms over tuna quota with Europe

Monday, September 6, 2010

Central American tuna companies this month will be sharing the tuna export quota under the association agreement with Europe.

Calvo, the Salvadoran company of Spanish ownership, will have to negotiate with Costa Rican and Guatemalan rivals.

The region exports some 16,000 metric tons of tuna a year to Europe and Calvo sells between 75 and 80 percent of it.
