Canada and Honduras to sign free trade accord

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

Canada and Honduras are expected to finally sign a free trade agreement Tuesday after concluding negotiations two years ago.

Candadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced the successful conclusion of the talks while on a visit to the central American country in 2011, but translating the agreement into legal text took longer than expected.

Canada and Honduras have minimal bilateral trade activity at the moment, although official figures show it is growing at rate of almost 50 per cent since 2007 to $275 million last year.
