Canada wants Nicaragua to provide treaty on protection of investments

Canada’s ambassador to Nicaragua asked for a treaty to protect Canadian investment within the framework of the free trade accor being negotiated with Central America.

“I believe that we need a treaty to protect Canadian investment in Nicaragua, as has with the United States and the European Union,” he said.

The ambassador said that Canada has investment in Nicaragua in mining, energy, finance, tourism, footwear and the garment industry.
