Cartagena, Colombia, breaks tourism record

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

The city of Cartagena in Colombia registered a tourism record with 23,148 international visitors in December last year, according to official data.

It is the first time the city receives more than 20,000 tourists in a single month.

Growth in visitors has been the result of more international air connectivity, thanks to efforts by promotion agency Procolombia, as well as private and government groups, said Zully Salazar Fuentes, president of the Cartagena tourism corporation.
