Friday, January 27, 2012

Central America received a total of 9.6 million foreign visitors during the first ten months of 2011, according to preliminary data provided by the region's ministries of tourism.

While this figure is similar to the one registered in the same period in 2010, there is a remarkable increase in the number of European visitors -- from 638,000 in 2010 to 676,000 in 2011, January to October -- with British visitors up by 7 per cent.

Costa Rica received a total of just over 2 million visitors in the first ten months of 2011, some 2 per cent more than in the same period of 2010.
