Central America wants ethanol to replace oil

Energy sector leaders from Central America gathered in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, to discuss the use of ethanol instead of crude oil-based fuels in the region.

The project would start by using ethanol in the car fleets of the different countries' energy ministries, in order to evaluate its performance.

It is part of three project profiles which include a plan to distribute 1 million stoves to reduce the use of wood for cooking, and saving fuel in public transport.
