Central American bank lends $140 million for expansion of Costa Rica hydro scheme

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration has lent $140 million to Costa Rica for the expansion of the country's Cachí hydroelectric plant.

With the expansion, the plant will be able to generate 160 megawatts, compared with the current 100 megawatts it produces.

Work on the expansion is expected to begin shortly and will be completed in early 2015.
