Central American electricity interconnection system to be ready ‘soon’

Monday, April 18, 2011

Energy authorities from Central America, Mexico and Colombia said that the Central American electricity connection system, Siepac, will be ready to operate “soon”.

At a meeting in Honduras, the authorities affirmed that Siepac was making significant progress, but they offered no likely date for a commencement date.

Siepac aims not only to develop energy but also telecommunications in Central America. The power lines will also be used for broadband Internet use.
