Central American trade hit by high costs

The cost of taking a container from mainland China to Panama is $1,400, the same cost to transport a container from Gutaemala to Panama.

The president of Guatemala's chamber of commerce, Jorge Briz, gave that example to illustrate the serious difficulties of doing business in Central America.

The Central American council of Ministers of Economic Integration will meet this week aiming to find solutions to trade obstacles in the region.
