China Electric included in Panama power tender

China Electric Power is to be allowed to prequalify for the tender for the construction, operation and maintenance of Panama's fourth transmission line.

The company had been ruled out for the tender because of a misunderstanding, organizers say. Instead of lacking experience, as was said initially, it has experience of three successful projects already in Latin America.

Now there are five competitors that have been prequalified for the tender. Investment in the project is forecast at about $500 million.
