China gobbles up Panama copper exports

Sixty percent of the copper extracted from the Canadian owned open-cast mine in Panama's Colón province is destined for China the world’s biggest consumer of the mineral.

China consumes half of the world's production of copper. Minera Panama, a subsidiary of Canada's First Quantum, has the rights to 13,000 hectares in Donoso, La Prensa reports.
