China is Central America's fourth trade partner

China has passed Mexico to become Central America's fourth trade partner, the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat said.

Central America's top three trade partners continue to be the United States, Central America and Europe.

The region's combined exports totalled $20.4 billion up to August last year, of which $545 million were sent to China.
