China takes over Mexico’s place as trade partner

Mexico’s share in imports of Central American countries rose from 6.6 to 7.3 percent between 2006 and this year.

But during the last decade, China has taken Mexico’s place as a supplier of goods to the region. Last year it accounted for 11 percent of Central America’s imports. Basically both countries are rivals of sales of manufactured goods.
