Coffee workers in El Salvador lose $65 million

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

El Salvador's coffee workers have lost some $56 million due to a drop in production, according to the country's coffee investigation foundation, Procafé.

Workers earn money based on their performance in coffee farms, and unemployment could cause them to move to the cities, the foundation said.

Some 150,000 direct and indirect jobs have been lost in El Salvador's coffee sector.
