Colombia announces employment and poverty goals

The Colombian government has announced its poverty and employment targets for President Juan Manuel Santos's second term in office.

By 2018, Santos and his team hope decrease unemployment to 7.5 percent, decrease poverty to 25 percent, and decrease extreme poverty to 5 percent.

According to Finance Minister Mauricio Cardenas, Colombians currently have an annual income of around $8,300 dollars, but said he would like to set a target at $11,200 of income per capita by the end of 2018.
