Colombia takes steps to prevent imminent blackouts

Colombia’s government is set to impose a series of energy-saving measures amid fears that an ongoing energy crisis caused by drought could cause blackouts.

President Juan Manuel Santos announced new measures to incentivize energy savings, issuing a decree that will temporarily change the way that electric bills are calculated.
