Colombia telecoms market shaken by merger

Telecoms firms Tigo, subsidiary of Millicom, and Colombia's Une, have merged their operations in Colombia.

With the fusion, the new company will be able to offer customers combined communication services and entertainment content such as TV, music, and movies in a fixed mobile network.

Another firm, Avantel, announced it will invest some $250 million to begin offering fourth-generation, 4G, technology to its subscribers in the country.
