Colombians now buy cheaper cellphones

Friday, September 5, 2014

Retail prices of cellular phones in Colombia have dropped up to 46 percent in the last two months, government officials said.

The drop came after the government eliminated operators' exclusivity contracts for customers, said Isabel Cristina Fajardo, member of the Communications Regulation Committee.

"The price of telecoms services has also dropped 26 percent, a figure showing companies offering better tariffs for users," she added.
