Many companies in Costa Rica, including exporters, multinationals and those with cash in foreign currency, are facing very serious exchange-rate risks.

Many, of course, are taking precautions in the form of contracts to hedge foreign currency risks. But these contracts can cost as much as $250-$300 million, La República reports in Spanish.
