Costa Rica $992 million port contract goes to court

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Costa Rican banana exporters have scored a victory against the concession for the construction of a container terminal at the port of Moín.

The judge who has been hearing the exporters’ plea to cancel the concession has denied a request to shelve the case. The request came from the government and APM Terminals, the Dutch group that was awarded the concession. The $992 million project for the construction of a specialized port is the biggest ever promoted by Costa Rica.
