Costa Rica ahead in economic freedom

Costa Rica is first in the region, second in Latin America and 28th in the world in economic freedom, according to the 2016 annual report of Canada’s Fraser Insititute.

Guatemala, ranked 34th worldwide, is second in the isthmus, while Honduras (64th) is last.

Chile is ranked first in Latin America and 13th overall.

First in the world is Hong Kong, while Venezuela is considered to have the least economic freedom among 159 countries and regions, taking into account factors such as personal choice, voluntary exchange, freedom to enter markets, and security of the person and privately owned property (numbers in brackets indicate global position).
