Costa Rica aims to grant concession for urban railroad

The Costa Rican government of Carlos Alvarado aims to grant a concession for the electric urban railroad of the capital San Juan.

The idea is that at the end of Alvarado's mandate in 2022, the project will be at such an advanced state that the next administration will be unable to cancel it.

As yet, there is no route for the new system, nor whether it might be a monorail, at least in part. These details still have to be worked out on the basis of studies.
