Costa Rica asks Inter-American Development Bank for $132 million loan

Costa Rica asked the Inter-American Development Bank for a $132 million credit to finance a program to prevent violence.
The bank’s president signed a declaration of intent with President Laura Chinchilla. The program will also be financed by $55 million from the Costa Rican government.
Costa Rica aims to use the money to improve the prison system and strengthen the national police academy.
