Costa Rica buries double tax burden on co-ops

The possibility that the Costa Rican government could slap a 30 percent income tax on profits of co-operatives was buried by legislators without even a debate.

The proposal was made by Helio Fallas, the finance minister. A majority of the nation’s political parties rejected it.
