Costa Rica business leaders urge fiscal plan

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Costa Rica could fall into a financial abyss, with soaring interest rates and a shrinking economy with zero growth in employment, unless the government's fiscal plan is approved by legislators, business leaders say.

As a result, the business community has joined ranks to support the government of Carlos Alvardo who's aim is to pass new taxes.

At the same time, some members of the community described as an "attack" a resolution emitted by judges that could forbid cuts on the perks currently enjoyed by government employees, who include magistrates and court officials.
