Costa Rica casts dount over Mallon Oil contract

The future of the US-based Mallon Oil Company’s contract to explore for oil and natural gas in Costa Rica has been cast into doubt.

The government questions the validity of the contract on environmental grounds. New studies have been requested.

The company, however, claims to have met all the requirements and is insisting on the environment minister’s signature on the contract.
