Costa Rica eyes region's food market

El Salvador and Guatemala are potential markets for Costa Rican food exports with added value, such as organic, light and gourmet foods, according to a study by the Costa Rican foreign trade promotion agency, Procomer.

The aim of the study is to give Costa Rican exporters a snapshot of the food market in the region, in order for them to improve their investment strategies.

The study revealed that El Salvador has a high demand for natural, organic foods, as well as gluten-free products, while Guatemala is emerging as a market for diet foods and haute cuisine.
